Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly will my makeup fade?

Rate of fading depends on many things; aftercare, sun exposure, lifestyle and body chemistry. Brunettes typically come in for annual colour boosting appointments but people with fairer complexions and lighter tattoos can sometime go as long as two years between appointments.

What do I do Before My appointment?

Please avoid blood thinners of all types for 1 to 2 weeks prior to your appointment. This includes Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E and Fish Oils.

Does it hurt?

Your comfort is extremely important to me, and topical numbing products are always used. I undergo procedures from time to time myself which keeps me honest- I know exactly what you are experiencing.

Why does my makeup fade?

Micropigment particles are very tiny and over time they slowly shed out of the skin.

Cosmetic tattoo is designed to fade for really good reasons:

  1. Our faces change.

  2. Our coloration significantly changes over the years as we lighten and grey.

  3. Styles come and go. Your ‘permanent’ makeup can change with you.

  4. You may be iron deficient if you experience rapid fading.

Will my cosmetic tattoo look natural?

It will! Once the pigment heals in and the colour is viewed through the skin the effect is soft and subtle. Unless you tell people about your appointments, they will wonder why you look younger and more attractive, especially first thing in the morning.

What do I do after my appointment?

I will provide you with specific post-care instructions. Good aftercare practices always benefit healed results.

how safe are permanent makeup products?

I follow strict sanitation guidelines, and use single-use, disposable needles and blades for each client.

My FDA approved pigments are iron oxide based and all numbing products come from local pharmacies. All pigments are manufactured in the US.

Why do I need Two Tattoo Appointments?

At first some people are a nervous and more comfortable requesting a lighter tattoo. At the 6 week retouch appointment, we build upon this. A 2nd appointment is also a safeguard against accidental colour loss while healing. All bets are off while you’re sleeping, and those of us who are side sleepers know what I’m talking about.

After the first year, single colour boosting appointments are typically all that is needed. Your old, faded tattoo provides a soft powdery backdrop for a fresh look.
